This type of bib short was originally designed with gravel cycling in mind. During training, a lot of gravel riders ditch the classic cycling jersey for a more relaxed cycling shirt. We love this laid back, comfy style ourselves, especially on big adventure days, but there is one big drawback. Without a classic cycling jersey, we found ourselves with no pockets for storage. And this is exactly why cargo bib shorts were created! These bibs have compressive pockets on the thighs, which gives us a ton of space for our gels, bars, and phones. And it turns out, carrying these items on the side of your shorts can be even more comfortable than shoving everything into your rear cycling pockets.
